SICHERHEIT ALS EINE KLASSE FÜR SICH Eisklasse Nautische Erfahrung, seriöse Planung, große Umsicht und Sorgfalt sind für Sicherheit und Erlebnis essenziell. Nur wer wie wir die Anforderungen des „Polar Codes“ der Internationalen Seeschifffahrts-Organisation der UN (IMO) erfüllt und entsprechend zertifiziert wurde, darf polare Gewässer befahren. So wurden unsere Expeditionsschiffe für die Reisen ins Eis vollkommen anders konstruiert als „normale“ (Kreuzfahrt-)Schiffe und äußerst stabil gebaut: mit höherer Stahlplattendicke und zahlreichen Zusatzspanten im Haupteisbereich des Rumpfes. Mit höchster Eisklasse für Passagierschiffe (PC 6) kann die Flotte gebrochenes Packeis beiseiteschieben und sogar, falls erforderlich, eine Festeisdecke von rund 90 cm sicher durchfahren. Mit hochmodernen Navigations-, Positions- und Kommunikationssystemen beweisen unsere Schiffe ihre Klasse – technisch ebenso wie in puncto Sicherheit.
