Elle accueille un quart de la population totale du Danemark, Copenhague est un lieu stratégique pour ce qui est du commerce, de la culture, de l’industrie et pour son atmosphère cosmopolite.

    Bien que les Vikings et les pêcheurs connaissaient ce site depuis des années en tant que « Havn » (Port), la fondation de Copenhague remonte à 1167, lorsque le guerrier-évêque Absalon y établit une citadelle. Au fur et à mesure que le commerce prospérait, le nom fut changé pour Kшpmannжhafn (Port Marchand) et en 1443, la ville est devenue la capitale du royaume du Danemark.
