Kagoshima (der alte Name „Satsuma“ wird noch immer oft verwendet) ist die Hauptstadt des gleichnamigen Bezirks. Es liegt an der südwestlichen Spitze der Kyushu Insel und ist die größte Stadt im gesamten Bezirk. Kagoshima ist eine Stadt mit vielen Palmen, breiten Alleen und einem warmen milden Wetter, deshalb wird es oft mit seiner Partnerstadt Neapel in Italien verglichen. Der beste Ort für Sie, um die Stadt von oben zu bewundern, ist das Riesenrad auf dem Amu Plaza – einem neuen Einkaufszentrum mit einer direkten Verbindung zum Hauptbahnhof Kagoshima.
